The fabric weave of the twill is a cotton fabric with two upper and lower twill weaves and 45° left oblique. The front side of the twill weave is obvious, but the reverse side of the variegated twill is not obvious. The warp and weft yarn counts are similar, the warp density is slightly higher than the weft density, and the hand feels khaki soft.
Classification of twill
There are two types: coarse twill and fine twill. For denim fabrics, cotton yarns of size 32 and above (under 18 counts) are used as warp and weft yarns; for fine twills, cotton yarns of size 18 and below (32 counts and above) are used as warp and weft yarns. Twill fabrics are available in natural white, bleached and variegated colors. They are often used as linings for uniforms, sportswear, and sports shoes, as well as emery cloth backing and cushioning materials. The wide-width bleached twill fabric can be used as a sheet or as a bed sheet after printing. The primary color and variegated fine twill fabric has a bright surface after electro-optical or calendering finishing, which can be used as umbrella surface and clothing folder.
Advantages of twill
Easily keep warm, soft and close-fitting, moisture absorption and air permeability are very good.
Disadvantages of twill
Easy to shrink, easy to wrinkle, not very stiff and beautiful in appearance, and must be ironed frequently when wearing.
Plain weave is a kind of cloth woven with plain weave. The opposite of it is twill. When weaving plain weave, cotton, linen and chemical fiber are generally used as raw materials. Because of its many characteristics, it also has a wide range of uses.
The difference between plain weave and twill:
The weaving method of plain weave (warp and weft yarns are interwoven at intervals) determines that the fabric will be firmer, wearable and not easy to deform. At the same time, the fabric is lighter and very breathable. In order to make the fabric more beautiful, it can be printed or jacquard on the fabric surface. Plain weave cloth can be divided into three types: coarse/medium/fine according to the thickness of the yarn.
Denim cloth will have a thicker surface than the other two types of plain cloth. Cotton is mainly used as the woven material, so it has excellent warmth retention and is suitable for the production of shirts and other clothing.
The weaving material of medium plain weave is viscose or cotton. The fabric has the tightest structure but harder hand (viscose will be harder than cotton). Most of these fabrics are used to make sheets or processed into clothing fabrics.
The raw materials used for fine plain weave are similar to those of coarse plain weave, but the finest yarns are used when weaving. The fabric surface is soft, delicate and very comfortable. This kind of cloth is mainly used to make spring and autumn outerwear and other clothing.
